Creative Reuse Center Boot Camp

Interested in learning how to start and operate a creative reuse center?  The Scrap Exchange has developed a program just for you, based on 22 years of experience as a national model and leader in the creative reuse center industry! 

 

The Scrap Exchange will hold our second annual Creative Reuse Center Boot Camp from May 13-16, 2014. Whether you are just getting started in developing a center, or need help growing an existing program, this boot camp is for you. Take advantage of our knowledge and experience in growing a reuse center from 2 founders with a dream in 1991, to today’s multi-faceted, 7-day/week operation employing 10 staff members and 22 part-time employees in a 22,000 square foot facility! What:
A four-day training session on how to start and ramp up your creative reuse center. Take it from the experts and a national award winning 22 year old creative reuse art center:  The Scrap Exchange shares its institutional knowledge, business model, and long history of experience.

When:
Tuesday, May 13 thru Friday, May 16th, 2014

The Scrap Exchange, 923 Franklin Street, Durham, NC  27701

What you will learn:  
Attendees will learn about operating a reuse center, collecting and managing materials, programming options (creative arts services , retail sales, online sales, consignment sales of upcycled products, gallery shows, and more), options for business models, PR and Marketing strategies, financial management and data tracking,  working with volunteers and staff, working with a Board of Directors, facility issues, and best practices.  Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend a Scrap Exchange Board of Directors meeting and various Committee meetings, a Third Friday Gallery opening, plus participate in an open studio.  And finally, attendees will learn about Reuse Alliance chapter development and a chance to move forward in the Reuse sector!

Cost:
Earlybird rate  (if paid on or before 4/10/14)
$1500   (single attendee or first team member)

(10% discount for additional team members from same organization)

Regular rate (After 4/10/14)
$1800  (single attendee or first team member)
$1620 
(10% discount for additional team members)

Includes 30 hours of workshops and programming plus some meals during bootcamp hours.  Accommodations are not provided, but we do have a list of affordable accommodations that has the venue, rates, and distance and transportation options.

Before May 8, 2013– 50% refund
