The Cameron Gallery, located inside The Scrap Exchange creative arts reuse center, is seeking exhibition proposals for the 2019. The Cameron Gallery is dedicated to showcasing artists who highlight reclaimed materials in their work. Cameron Gallery shows change monthly, and openings are scheduled on the third Friday of each month, in conjunction with Durham’s Third Friday gallery walk.
Exhibition Proposal Requirements:
Please send the following information and documents to Diana Shark, Cameron Gallery Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org:
- A brief description of the proposed exhibition
- Artist statement for each participating artist
- Artist biography for each participating artist
- Brief description of how the works incorporate creative reuse, reclaimed materials, or found objects
- 3-5 images of creative work
- Document listing the title, artist, date, and medium of images submitted
Please send images in .JPG or .GIF format and send documents in Microsoft Word or other comparable text program.
Please note: The Cameron Gallery hosts 12 shows each year that are an even distribution of group shows, art installations, open-call community shows, and solo exhibitions. Please consider the diversity of our calendar year when developing your exhibition proposal. Artists are encouraged to submit proposals for group shows and art installations as only a handful of solo exhibitions are presented each year.
All exhibition proposals are reviewed by the gallery committee, that oversees the Cameron Gallery. For more information about the Cameron Gallery or artist opportunities at The Scrap Exchange, please contact Diana Shark, Cameron Gallery Coordinator, at (919) 213-1278.
The Cameron Gallery is named in honor of The Scrap Exchange’s longtime friend and supporter Danny Cameron. Over the years, Cameron has volunteered his time and expertise along with operational and building support from the Dan Cameron Family Foundation. Cameron’s support invests in a future that embodies creative reuse in communities and provides space for exhibiting artists.
