#GiveAScrap 2018

The Scrap Exchange is a vital thread in the fabric of our community, promoting creativity, environmental awareness and community through reuse.

Creativity – Step through our doors and enter an idea factory. Through 800 programs and events we offer students, teachers, families, organizations and institutions of higher education the chance to exercise their creative spirits.

Environmental Awareness – The Scrap Exchange is a leader in the state and country promoting reuse and diversion. Last year 263 tons of waste were kept out of the landfill, and three new creative reuse stores are underway in the US because of technical help from us!

Community – Fifty-three people work at our organization. Hundreds of capable and handi-capable volunteers as well as justice-involved individuals help out in our stores. Everyone is welcome!

We are able to do this work with support from friends and donors like you!

Please consider a gift that supports the following work in our community:
$50 covers the cost of picking up industrial discards and keeping them out of the landfill
$100 subsidizes the materials we donate every week to other community causes
$250 allows us to offer a free creative reuse program to a local school

Every gift helps weave a vital thread in the fabric of our community!

You can also make secure, online donations through

Network for Good or Paypal.

The Scrap Exchange is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization, Federal ID Number 56-1728718. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law. Checks can be made payable to The Scrap Exchange and mailed to us at 2050 Chapel Hill Road, Durham, NC 27707.

If you received a fabric pennant in the mail as part of the #GiveAScrap campaign, we invite you to join us for a fun, community art project by decorating your own pennant. You can paint on it, do embroidery on it, glue things to it or just write your name on it!

Then join us Friday, November 19th from 6-9 pm for our Holiday Art Show where we will sew all the pennants together and hang them outside the Cameron Gallery to celebrate community! We will have a table set up to purchase and decorate a pennant for those wishing to participate in this fundraising campaign.
