Duke Doing Good in the Neighborhood — Community Care Fund
The campaign makes it easy for Duke employees to make a difference in Durham through community-based philanthropy. The Office of Durham and Regional Affairs coordinates both the fundraising and grant making sides of Doing Good in the Neighborhood.

The Scrap Exchange received a $5,000 grant for an Early Childhood Creativity Development project, working with pre-schoolers and teachers to develop environmentally conscious, creative thinkers from an early age. The funding will support training for early childhood development, including reuse arts education programming on sourcing materials, curriculum and projects.

The foundation donated $120,000 to help support the purchase of the Scrap Exchange’s permanent facility. The capital investment from the foundation will serve as a lasting legacy to the Durham community. In honor of the support of Dan Cameron, longtime friend and family of the organization, the Green Gallery was renamed the Cameron Gallery in August of 2014, to coincide with the relocation of the organization.
