STUDENT INTERNSHIPS **Accepting Applications through January 5th, 2018

Gain valuable work experience through interning at The Scrap Exchange! We have three different volunteer internships available for local students. Internship dates: January 19th – April 27th 2018


Events and Outreach Intern:

Under the supervision of the Outreach and Education Manager, the Events and Outreach Intern, will assist with non-profit event planning and educational programs. The Events and Outreach Intern will be assisting with all of the necessary tasks to plan and execute our events and educational outreach programs. Tasks will include but are not limited to event research, event preparation, office support, and fundraising. Interns are expected to serve as representatives of The Scrap Exchange.

This internship will provide interns  with valuable work experience. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in professional development workshops and develop important work skills by completing relevant tasks. Interns will gain experience with event planning, fundraising, community outreach, marketing,and more.

This position requires a positive attitude, ability to work independently and as a team, customer service skills, and a passion to learn. Must be comfortable on the phone and willing to attend events. The intern must adapt to cover a wide range of tasks as needed to ensure the overall strength of event operations.
Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
• Provide administrative, secretarial and clerical support
• Assist with event logistics and planning
• Make calls to current and prospective donors and event participants
• Assist with preparing event materials and supplies
• Complete research on potential events and community partners
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

This internship is available for degree seeking students or individuals who have recently graduated.

  • Must be comfortable on the phone.
    • Outstanding customer service skills
    • Detail-oriented, highly organized, ability to multi-task and focused on goals
    • Marketing sensibility and experience or enthusiasm to learn special events
    • Professional maturity, judgement, and presence.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment

 


Volunteer Operations Intern:

Marketing Intern:


Under the supervision of the Marketing and Design Directors, the Marketing Intern will assist with creating design and marketing materials for The Scrap Exchange’s creative programming. The marketing intern will also assist with developing new strategies for strengthening our presence on social media and in the community.

This internship will provide interns  with valuable work experience. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in professional development workshops and develop important work skills by completing relevant tasks. Interns will gain experience with event planning, fundraising, community outreach, marketing,and more.

This position requires a positive attitude, ability to work independently and as a team, customer service skills, and a passion to learn. Must be comfortable on the phone and willing to attend events. The intern must adapt to cover a wide range of tasks as needed to ensure the overall strength of event operations.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Create a marketing plan for on-site programs such as Creative Classes, and special events
  • Implement new advertising strategies for creative programming
  • Work with Marketing Coordinator and the Design Director to create marketing content such as newsletters, blog posts, etc.
  • Assist with managing Social Media platforms
  • Regularly review The Scrap Exchange’s website and make sure that everything is correct and current
