Internships

STUDENT INTERNSHIPS 

Complete an internship with an environmental arts nonprofit! We have a variety of volunteer internships available for local high school and college students. Internships are available in the fields of:

  • Merchandising
  • Outreach
  • Events and Programs
  • Environmental Awareness
  • Marketing
  • Development and Fundraising
  • Volunteer Organization
  • Non-profit Operations
  • Retail Operations

Interns should have a positive attitude, the ability to work both independently and as a team member, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, customer service skills, and a passion to learn. Interns must have reliable lines of communication and their own transportation. Interns will be expected to serve as representatives of The Scrap Exchange.

Previous Intern Positions

The following are examples of Scrap Exchange internships from previous years.

Events and Outreach Intern:

Under the supervision of the Outreach and Education Manager, the Events and Outreach Intern assisted with non-profit event planning and educational programs. The Events and Outreach Intern assisted with all of the necessary tasks to plan and execute those events and programs. Tasks included event research, event preparation, office support, and fundraising.

This internship provided interns with valuable work experience. Interns had the opportunity to participate in professional development workshops and develop important work skills by completing relevant tasks. Interns gained experience with event planning, fundraising, community outreach, marketing, and more.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provided administrative, secretarial and clerical support
• Assisted with event logistics and planning
• Made calls to current and prospective donors and event participants
• Assisted with preparing event materials and supplies
• Completed research on potential events and community partners
• Performed other related duties as assigned

 

Marketing Intern:

Under the supervision of the Marketing and Design Director, the Marketing Intern assisted with creating marketing materials for The Scrap Exchange’s creative programming. The marketing intern also assisted with developing new strategies for strengthening our presence on social media and in the community.

This internship provided interns with valuable work experience. Interns had the opportunity to participate in professional development workshops and develop important work skills by completing relevant tasks. Interns gained experience with event planning, fundraising, community outreach, marketing, and more.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Created a marketing plan for on-site programs such as creative classes and special events
  • Implemented new advertising strategies for creative programming
  • Worked with Marketing Coordinator and the Design Director to create marketing content such as newsletters, blog posts, etc.
  • Assisted with managing Social Media platforms
  • Regularly reviewed The Scrap Exchange’s website and made sure that everything was correct and current
