Our Open Studio is offered in our two community studio spaces: the Make-N-Take Room and the Design Center.

Enjoy 1.5 hours of self-directed creativity in our Make-N-Take Room for $5 per participant. Participants make anything they want using the materials in the space, and take home what they make. You’ll find our unique array of materials, along with scissors, tape, and staplers to create with. Perfect for all ages!
We host a variety of groups year-round, with the ability to accommodate up to 60 participants. See our Field Trips page for more details.

Individuals and Families
Individual and families can use the room anytime during store hours when group programming is not taking place. For drop-ins, please call our retail store at 919-688-6960 to confirm availability before arriving.
Our Design Center is best suited for teens and adults. You’ll find these helpful tools and more:
- sewing machines
- industrial sewing machines
- die-cut machine
- button makers
- hot t-shirt press
- a multi-lingual reference library with books on art and craft topics
Before you dive in, we need to schedule a time to orient you to the tools you plan to use. Once trained, we add you to our list of drop-in Design Center users.
If you know how to sew, but need orientation on our machines, we offer this during our free community meetup, 2nd Sunday Sewing.
Details here: http://sewsunday.
We also offer private sewing, serging, knitting, and crochet lessons at $20 per hour.
Please contact Wendy Ziegler, Education Coordinator, at outreach[at]scrapexchange.org or 919-213-1278 to make arrangements.
