Beginning Sewing Class

Always wanted to learn how to use a sewing machine or spiff up your skills? Join a textile artist and long-time sewing instructor for this class designed for brand new beginners and re-entry sewers. We will cover tools and sewing concepts, machine threading and troubleshooting, straight stitch, zig-zag, and appliqué stitches. Students will design and sew a class project using The Scrap Exchange’s awesome wealth of fabrics and trims. All tools and materials are provided, but feel free to bring your own sewing machine, fabric scissors, and/or fabrics.



Art Journaling: Express Don’t Repress

This class is for those interested in creating a mixed media art journal intended to Express Not Repress. No experience needed! You will learn creative journaling techniques, play in a judge free zone, meet new friends and leave with motivation to keep journaling. The Scrap Exchange will provide materials but feel free to bring materials from home that you would like to include in your journal.

Medium Level Sewing Class: Japanese Aprons

Medium/Advanced Sewing Class: Must be able to use a sewing machine prior to this class!

Would you like to learn how to create your own useful apron for a variety of household chores? Join us for this home sewing class and design and sew a utility apron made from your own measurements! Choose from a selection of fun fabrics provided by the Scrap Exchange, or bring 2 yards of woven fabric that is apron appropriate (no jersey knit or stretchy fabric). This is a perfect project to repurpose a twin size sheet!

All tools and materials are provided, but feel free to bring your own sewing machine, fabric scissors, and/or fabrics.



Beginning Kids Sewing Class (8-14 yrs old) – Pillows!

Learn the basics of screen printing with members of the Supergraphic Print Lab team. Participants will create unique prints using traditional screen filler and cut stencil methods. Everyone can take home whatever they print! This workshop will not include the use of photographic emulsion.

Learn the basics of screen printing with members of the Supergraphic Print Lab team. Participants will create unique prints using traditional screen filler and cut stencil methods. Everyone can take home whatever they print! This workshop will not include the use of photographic emulsion.



Simple Binding w/ Screen Printing and Stamps
Instructor: Tedd Anderson and Logan Britt

This workshop lets participants choose from several patterns and colored paper to design a simple book structure. Patterns will be screen printed on paper. Pre-made stamps will also be used. After papers are created, the instructors will be teaching several non-adhesive book bindings including a folded zine structure, pamphlet binding, Japanese punch binding. Each participant will be able to leave with their own handmade booklet. This is a beginner workshop.  All materials supplied.



MAY 2019



Introduction to Linocut Class

Learn the basics of linocut printmaking with Supergraphic Print Lab Director Bill Fick. Participants will cover this relief print techniques from start to finish. We will begin with design concepts followed by carving styles and techniques and ending with inking and printing. Everyone can take home whatever they print! Registration is required. Space is limited.

Refund Policy

Refunds for class fees will be issued if the class is cancelled by The Scrap Exchange for any reason. If you register for a class and cannot attend, a refund will only be issued if you notify the Scrap Exchange at least 1 week before the class begins.
