The Scrap Exchange will be hosting “The State of the Scrap” community engagement event at its Lakewood campus on Saturday, October 1 from 2-5pm. The event is intended to celebrate a new chapter at the Scrap and solicit input that will inform the organization’s growth and programming strategies in the coming years.The State of the Scrap event will begin by inviting community members to design a large mixed-media art installation as an exercise for envisioning the organization’s future. Other programming will include a tour of Reuse Arts District facilities and a presentation covering the Scrap’s recent history as well as calls to action for engaging directly with the organization.If you aren’t able to make the event, there are many opportunities to get involved in shaping Scrap’s future. We invite fellow progressive organizations, environmentalists, and artists to make use of our facilities for their own events. In addition, there are many opportunities to volunteer on an ongoing basis using whatever scrappy skills you bring to the table.The State of the Scrap event is intended to usher in a new era of transparency and community leadership.
