I hope your summer is going great so far — The Scrap Exchange has been HOPPING and we have LOTS going on around here!
‘Tis the season for traveling, vacations, camps, classes and fun! Check out what The Scrap Exchange has to offer this summer — we have lots of programming and opportunities to make some art, see some art, get materials for your art, or clean out the stuff you use make art with … Bring it to us!
Summer Camps are here!
This year is our second round of camps — we have our own unique take on how to spark children’s imaginations, teach skills and work together. Visit the camp page of our website for complete details or to register.
We’re also thrilled to have an artist-in-residence in the Cameron Gallery this week — Katherine Soucie from Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. She is using hose from a local hosiery mill that she dyes and silkscreens to create a traveling installation. She will also have on hand her handmade creations from the hose, and will teach a zero waste dyeing class on Sunday June 19. Sign up today!
We’ll have an artist’s reception on Friday, June 17 from 6 to 9pm as part of Durham’s Third Friday activities. Check out the Gallery page of our website for more information on the show.
This week is also our fifth Creative Reuse Center Boot Camp. We welcome four new bootcampers for our 30-hour training program, to learn all about our operations and how they can work to replicate our model in their community. Are you interested in learning more about this program? Check out the great video we have on our website. Our next Boot Camp is scheduled for September 13-16, 2016.
Are you wondering what’s happening with the rumored purchase of the vacant section of the Lakewood Shopping Center? We’re still working through the process and are scheduled to close in August. Stay tuned!
Thank you for your support. Come see us!
