Crafternoon: Kumihimo Braiding

*New* at the Scrap Exchange! – Crafternoons

Crafters of all ages are invited to join us for creating simple reuse craft items or learning a boredom-busting skill that will carry you throughout the summer. Projects and skills will use use reclaimed materials and industrial discards found at the Scrap Exchange. For more information, contact Wendy Ziegler, Education Coordinator at outreach@scrapexchange.org. Registration is suggested but drop-ins are welcome.

Crafternoon: Kumihimo, Japanese Disk Braiding
Date: Wednesday, July 3, 2015
Time: Arrive any time after 3:30pm. We will end at 5:30 pm.
Cost: $5 per participant
Ages: all ages with adult accompaniment, parents are welcome to drop off ages 8+ after signing in

Instructor: Wendy Ziegler

Wendy Ziegler has been involved in preschool and elementary education for over 20 years with specific interest in teaching process-oriented art and various handcrafts. She has taught in a variety of settings including public and private schools, preschools, summer camps, child development centers, and even a scrapbooking retail store. She has also been an advocate for children’s play and learning with natural materials and has facilitated workshops for early childhood professionals and parents. Currently, she is enrolled in the Applied Arts Program for Waldorf Handwork Teacher Education at the Fiber Craft Studio in Chestnut Ridge, NY. She can be found working as the Handwork Assistant at Emerson Waldorf School in Chapel Hill and as the Education Coordinator at The Scrap Exchange.
