Did you know that you can help the environment just by turning off your lights?
According to an article published by Boston University, if you turn off the lights whenever you leave a room, you can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 0.15 pounds per hour. That means if everyone in Triangle participated in the Earth Hour Challenge on March 27, 2021, in one hour we could reduce carbon emissions equivalent to removing more than 23 cars off the road (or 282,846 pounds of carbon dioxide).
Earth Hour 2021 will be Saturday, March 27 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Just turn off your lights for one hour.
- Do some stargazing.
- Have dinner or a bath by candlelight.
- Get a flashlight and make a tent in the living room and tell ghost stories.
The possibilities are endless. Learn more about Earth Hour at earthour.org.
